In the district of La Pintada, in Coclé, over 15 families participated in the first partial harvest of tilapia organized by the Sustainable Agricultural Community Committee of Cascajal.
This harvest aims to meet both consumption needs and marketing opportunities, and it is the result of a joint project between the community, the Authority of Aquatic Resources of Panama (ARAP), and the company Cobre Panama.
In this first partial harvest, approximately 300 pounds of tilapia were obtained, with an average weight of 1.5 pounds. In addition to providing quality protein to these families, the tilapia harvest will also become a source of economic income.
To add value to the products, the families have a grinding machine that allows them to transform the fish into nuggets and hamburgers.
