The Ministry of Science and Innovation, through the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), is going to allocate 11 million euros to promote access to science and scientific culture. This Thursday the Call for María de Guzmán 2023 aid was opened, which has a budget of 6 million euros. Within the total budget of this call, 3 million euros will be invested to improve the interoperability of open science digital infrastructures, as a measure of the National Open Science Strategy (ENCA). The application period will be open until August 11 at 1:00 p.m. On the other hand, the bases of the Call for aid for the promotion of scientific, technological and innovation culture have been published, which has a budget of 5 million euros to finance communication and dissemination projects of public and private entities that bring research, technology and innovation closer to the public. The call will open on September 1, 2023 but you can already consult all the information to present proposals. The Call for María de Guzmán 2023 grants to promote access to scientific research for research staff in Spain has two lines of action. On the one hand, the management and measurement of research results: by promoting the use of multidisciplinary bibliographic reference databases with citations and impact that allow optimal management and measurement of research results. On the other hand, open science and interoperability of institutional digital infrastructures: aimed at improving technological training, quality and interoperability of institutional infrastructures for dissemination, storage, preservation and management of scientific information. Public Research Organizations, public and private universities with activity and demonstrated capacity in R+D+I, and public and private institutions that provide scientific resources in an aggregated manner to health entities and institutions linked to the National Health System are eligible for this call. Additionally, health research institutes may be beneficiaries of the second line of action; technological centers and support for technological innovation at state level; public and private R+D centers whose main activity is R+D+i and any other legal entity that carries out R+D+i activities, generates scientific or technological knowledge or facilitates its application and transfer. PROMOTION OF SCIENTIFIC, TECHNOLOGICAL AND INNOVATION CULTURE Regarding the call for aid for the promotion of scientific, technological and innovation culture, the lines of action are social communication projects of science and technology; the annual program of activities of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Units, specialized in scientific journalism, outreach and other scientific culture activities; Science fairs, in which young non-university students with the help of their teachers present experimental projects carried out in schools; and unique projects. Three types of projects with very specific characteristics in terms of the type of entities that can request it, the mode of presentation and the objectives will be financed under the label of singular projects, with execution periods of up to 24 months: Citizen science; Art, Science, Technology and Society projects; and research and practice in scientific communication.
