Having recently traveled to Geneva, I can confidently state that it is Europe’s most underestimated culinary destination

Geneva remains vastly underrated among European cities. When I mentioned my plans to visit this Swiss city for a long weekend, I received perplexed looks and even direct questions about the reason for my choice. Nevertheless, Geneva turned out to be a treasure trove of hidden gems, waiting to be discovered in every narrow street and corner. It offered a delightful blend of everything I adore: culture, cuisine, and shopping. The best part was that it was comparatively less crowded than other European destinations, making it effortless to find a table at restaurants or stroll through peaceful streets.

In terms of dining options and sightseeing, Geneva provides a wide array of choices. Each region in Switzerland boasts its distinct influences. For instance, Zurich in the eastern part of the country has more of a German influence, whereas Geneva in the west leans heavily towards French culture. However, as the capital city, Geneva offers an exquisite blend of various cuisines, presenting visitors with the opportunity to savor the finest French, Italian, and Swiss dishes without needing to venture elsewhere. For those seeking French cuisine, Geneva offers a plethora of options, ranging from corner brasseries to elegant fine dining establishments. Michelin-starred Le Jardiner and L’Artichaut cater to those looking for a refined dining experience, while Bistrot du BÅ“uf Rouge, a more casual spot, is a must-visit for their delectable beef filet.

Eaux-Vives neighborhood is a hub for Italian cuisine and vibrant nightlife. One street, abuzz with wine bars, leads to Tosca, a place that transports diners from Geneva to Florence. There, the chef skillfully prepares refined Tuscan fare, complemented by an extensive selection of Italian wines, all beneath a stunningly frescoed ceiling.
