ANC legally obligated to release cadre deployment committee recordings: DA

Democratic Alliance (DA) Spokesperson Solly Malatsi declared that the African National Congress (ANC) has a legal obligation to release its minutes and recordings of its cadre deployment committee to the DA.

The DA’s call for the ANC to release the minutes and recordings of its cadre deployment committee was made in the presence of the media at the party’s headquarters in Johannesburg.

Malatsi described the call as a necessary step in ensuring transparency and accountability within the ruling party. He said that it was essential for the DA to have access to these recordings in order to hold the ANC accountable for its decisions.

The DA contends that the cadre deployment committee is responsible for a number of corrupt appointments made within the party, and the release of these recordings would provide the public with better insight into the ANC’s decision-making process.

Malatsi further argued that the release of the recordings and minutes would reveal how the ANC has been using the cadre deployment system to reward loyalists and their families, while disadvantaging qualified and competent individuals to fill government posts.

The DA has accused the ANC of using the cadre deployment system as a tool to perpetuate patronage and corruption within the party. The party has also argued that the ANC’s decision to withhold the recordings and minutes of the cadre deployment committee was an attempt to conceal its patronage system and prevent public scrutiny.

The DA called on the ruling party to adhere to the principles of accountability and transparency, and to immediately release the recordings and minutes of the cadre deployment committee.

The DA’s call for the ANC to release the minutes and recordings of its cadre deployment committee came on the heels of a separate call for the ruling party to release its provincial and regional cadre deployment registers.

The ANC has yet to issue a response to the DA’s demand for the release of the recordings and minutes, and it remains to be seen if the ruling party will heed the DA’s call.

The DA’s call for transparency and accountability within the ruling party is an important and necessary step towards ensuring good governance and a corruption free South Africa. The release of the recordings and minutes of the cadre deployment committee would provide the public with greater insight into the ANC’s decision-making process and its patronage system.

It is essential for South Africans to have access to this information in order to make informed decisions and hold the ANC accountable for its actions. The DA’s call for the ANC to release the recordings and minutes of its cadre deployment committee is an important move in the right direction.
