Article: Israel’s Ongoing Genocide in Gaza and the Netanyahu Government’s Fascist Repression of Dissenters
The world is witnessing Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza, as the Netanyahu government continues to carry out its illegal acts of violence against innocent civilians. This is not only a violation of international law, but also a serious threat to human rights and dignity. As if this wasn’t enough, the Netanyahu government is turning to fascist repression against dissenters within.
The Israeli government has long claimed to be a champion of democracy, promoting freedom of speech and the right of dissenters to express their opinion. But, in reality, it has been becoming increasingly authoritarian and fascist in its policies. It is clear that the Netanyahu government is attempting to impose its agenda on the citizens of Israel, even when it means trampling on their basic human rights.
The government has been targeting individuals and groups who are critical of its policies in the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as those who express solidarity with the Palestinians. The far-right victims have included journalists, activists, academics, and even human rights organizations. This repressive stance is in direct opposition to the principles of democracy, and is part of the government’s broader strategy of silencing dissent.
For example, in February 2020, the Israeli government shut down a Palestinian-run radio station in the West Bank, which was broadcasting stories of human rights violations against Palestinians in the occupied territories. This was done under the pretence of “incitement”, but it was widely seen as a way of silencing criticism of the government.
The Netanyahu government has also used various forms of censorship and media manipulation to control public opinion. This includes cracking down on social media networks and other websites, as well as spreading false information and misinformation.
In addition, the Netanyahu government has also been using its security forces to suppress peaceful protests, often with the use of excessive force. This has resulted in injuries and even deaths, as was the case with the recent killing of protester Iyad al-Hallaq.
All of these measures are part of the Netanyahu government’s attempt to control and limit public dissent. It is clear that the government is using fascist tactics to oppress anyone who speaks out against its policies, no matter how peaceful and non-violent the protest might be.
The world must not remain silent in the face of this repression. Everyone has a right to express their opinion, and the Netanyahu government must be held to account for its actions. It is time for the international community to stand up for the human rights and freedoms of the people of Israel and Palestine, and to ensure that both sides are able to live in peace and harmony.
