Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour has topped Pollstar’s 2023 year-end charts, smashing the billion-dollar barrier for live music tours.
Swift’s landmark tour grossed an incredible $1.04 billion in ticket sales for 60 shows and drew in 4.35 million fans across the globe. With an additional $200 million in merchandise sales along with the blockbuster success of her concert film “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” the film adaptation alone earned an estimated $250 million, making it the highest-grossing concert film of all time.
Surpassing all expectations, Pollstar predicts that Swift will exceed the $1 billion mark for the Eras tour again in 2024, making it the first tour in history to have earned more than $2 billion.
Adding to the glowing accolades, Swift was recently awarded Time Magazine’s Person of the Year and named Apple Music’s artist of the year this past month. According to Spotify, she was also this year’s most-streamed artist globally, making her the first artist to have more than 26.1 billion streams since January of this year, breaking Bad Bunny’s three-year record.
2023 saw a massive 46% jump from last year’s concert ticket sales both in the US and around the world, grossing a staggering $6.63 billion across North America and $9.17 billion worldwide.
The most popular tours in North America this year were primarily led by Swift, followed by Beyoncé in second place, Morgan Wallen in third, Drake in fourth, P!nk in fifth, and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band in sixth. With Karol G, Ed Sheeran, George Strait, and RBD rounding out the list.
The worldwide top 10 was a bit similar with Swift in first, followed by Beyoncé in second, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band in third, Coldplay in fourth, Harry Styles in fifth, and Morgan Wallen, Ed Sheeran, Pink, The Weeknd, and Drake in sixth place.
