Mopani Mayor, Pule Shayi, has been re-elected as the African National Congress’ (ANC) Norman Mashabane Region Chairperson, in a move that highlights the party’s confidence in his leadership abilities.
Shayi, who has been in the position since 2015, was once again chosen by party members to continue leading the ANC in the Mopani district. This decision was made at the ANC’s regional conference, which took place over the weekend in Giyani.
During his acceptance speech, Shayi expressed his gratitude for being re-elected and vowed to work even harder to serve the people of Mopani and the ANC.
“I am truly humbled by the trust and confidence that the ANC membership has shown in me. This is a great responsibility that I do not take lightly. I am ready to continue serving our people and the ANC with dedication and commitment,” he said.
Shayi’s re-election comes at a time when the ANC is facing numerous challenges, both at the national and local levels. However, his leadership in the Mopani region has been praised for bringing stability and unity to the party.
Under Shayi’s leadership, the ANC in Mopani has been able to maintain a strong presence in the district, despite facing stiff competition from other political parties. This has been attributed to his effective communication and grassroots mobilization strategies.
During his first term as the Norman Mashabane Region Chairperson, Shayi oversaw the ANC’s victory in the 2016 local government elections, where the party maintained control of all the municipalities in the Mopani region.
The recent regional conference also saw other ANC leaders being elected into various positions. These include Phetole Ramakgolo as the Deputy Regional Chairperson and Musawenkosi Mchunu as the Regional Secretary.
ANC Provincial Chairperson, Stan Mathabatha, congratulated Shayi and his team on their re-election and urged them to continue working towards the party’s vision of a united, prosperous and transformed Mopani region.
“Your re-election is a clear indication that the ANC membership has confidence in your leadership. We trust that you will continue to put the interests of the party and the people of Mopani first. The challenges that lie ahead can only be overcome through hard work, unity and dedication,” Mathabatha said.
The ANC has also called on all members in the Norman Mashabane Region to rally behind their newly elected leadership and work together to promote the ANC’s values and principles.
“We urge all party members to unite and work towards achieving the ANC’s goals of building a better life for all. We are confident that with the leadership of Pule Shayi, the ANC in Mopani will continue to grow and thrive,” said ANC spokesperson, Pule Mabe.
In conclusion, Shayi’s re-election as the ANC’s Norman Mashabane Region Chairperson is a testament to his leadership and the trust the party has in his abilities. As he begins his second term, all eyes will be on him to see how he will steer the ANC in Mopani towards a brighter future.
