Three teams in three weeks. That’s the latest on former Minnesota Vikings linebacker Brian Asamoah. After being released by the Vikings on August 31st, Asamoah has found himself on three different teams in just three weeks. But instead of feeling discouraged, Asamoah is using this as an opportunity to prove himself and find his place in the NFL.
Asamoah, a standout linebacker at the University of Miami, was signed by the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in May. He impressed during training camp and preseason games, but unfortunately, the numbers game caught up with him and he was released before the start of the regular season.
But Asamoah didn’t let this setback stop him. He stayed determined and continued to work hard, knowing that another opportunity would come his way. And sure enough, it did. Just two days after being released by the Vikings, Asamoah was signed by the New York Jets to their practice squad.
For Asamoah, this was a chance to continue his development and learn from some of the best linebackers in the league, such as C.J. Mosley and Avery Williamson. He took advantage of this opportunity and impressed the Jets coaching staff with his work ethic and natural talent.
However, Asamoah’s time with the Jets was short-lived. After just one week, he was released from the practice squad. But this didn’t discourage him. He knew that his performance had caught the eye of other teams and he was determined to make the most of his next opportunity.
And that opportunity came when he was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs to their practice squad. Asamoah was familiar with the Chiefs, having played against them in the preseason with the Vikings. He was excited to join their talented linebacker corps and continue to develop his skills.
But just like his previous two stints, Asamoah’s time with the Chiefs was cut short. After just one week, he was released from their practice squad. This could have been a demoralizing moment for Asamoah, but instead, he remained positive and focused on his goal of making it in the NFL.
And his perseverance paid off. On September 20th, Asamoah was signed by the Atlanta Falcons to their practice squad. This was his fourth team in just three weeks, but it was also the first time he had been signed to a team’s active roster. Asamoah had finally made it to the NFL.
But he knows that the journey doesn’t end here. Asamoah is determined to prove himself and earn a spot on the Falcons’ active roster. He is using his past experiences as motivation and is grateful for every opportunity he has been given.
In an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Asamoah said, “It’s definitely been a crazy ride, but I’m just happy to be here and happy to have the opportunity to play for the Falcons.” He also expressed his gratitude towards the Vikings, Jets, and Chiefs for giving him a chance to showcase his skills.
Asamoah’s journey to the NFL has been a rollercoaster ride, but he has shown resilience and determination throughout. He has proven that he has what it takes to make it in the league, and now it’s just a matter of time before he gets his shot to shine on the field.
So, while some may see Asamoah’s journey as a series of setbacks, he sees it as a series of opportunities. And with each opportunity, he is getting one step closer to achieving his dream of being an NFL linebacker. Asamoah’s story is a reminder to never give up on your dreams, no matter how many obstacles you may face.
