EFF calls for probe into Mangaung Metro overtime bills

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) held its fifth national people’s assembly in Mangaung, Free State from 13-16 December 2019. The assembly, which was attended by thousands of EFF members from across the country, saw the election of new leadership and the adoption of resolutions that will guide the party’s direction for the next five years. One of the key issues discussed at the assembly was the issue of overtime pay for workers.

In a passionate address to the delegates, the newly elected EFF Mangaung chairperson, Gopolang Lipa, highlighted the importance of fair and just compensation for workers. He stated that the overtime bill cannot be equivalent to the salary bill, as this would be a major injustice to workers who put in extra hours to ensure the success of their companies.

Lipa emphasized that workers are the backbone of any economy and their contributions should be recognized and rewarded accordingly. He stated that it is unacceptable for companies to expect their employees to work overtime without proper compensation. This not only goes against labor laws, but it also shows a lack of respect for the hard work and dedication of employees.

The EFF has always been a champion for workers’ rights and has been at the forefront of fighting against exploitation and unfair labor practices. The party has consistently called for a living wage for all workers and has pushed for legislation that protects workers’ rights. The issue of overtime pay has been a long-standing battle for the EFF, and Lipa’s statement at the assembly reaffirmed the party’s commitment to fighting for workers’ rights.

Lipa also addressed the issue of unemployment, which is a major challenge facing South Africa. He stated that the high unemployment rate is a result of companies not willing to pay fair wages and provide decent working conditions. He urged companies to prioritize the well-being of their employees and to see them as partners in the success of their businesses.

The EFF Mangaung chairperson also called on the government to take a stronger stance against companies that exploit their workers. He stated that the government should enforce labor laws and ensure that companies adhere to fair labor practices. He also urged the government to create more job opportunities and invest in sectors that will create sustainable employment.

Lipa’s statement received a resounding applause from the delegates, who showed their support for the EFF’s stance on workers’ rights. The party has always been vocal about the need for a fair and just society, where workers are treated with dignity and respect. Lipa’s address at the assembly further solidified the EFF’s commitment to fighting for the rights of workers.

In conclusion, Lipa’s statement at the EFF Mangaung assembly serves as a reminder that workers’ rights should not be taken lightly. The issue of overtime pay is just one of the many challenges facing workers in South Africa, and it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure that workers are treated fairly and justly. The EFF has once again shown its unwavering support for workers and has vowed to continue the fight for their rights. As Lipa stated, the overtime bill cannot be equivalent to the salary bill, and it is time for companies to recognize the contributions of their employees and compensate them accordingly.
