The Eastern Cape MEC for Community Safety, Ms Weziwe Tikana-Gxothiwe, has expressed concern over reports that members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and alleged representatives of the African National Congress (ANC) unlawfully entered the home of Lulu White.
According to reports, SAPS and ANC representatives allegedly forced their way into Ms White’s home without authorization or a warrant. This action has raised serious questions about the legality and respect for citizens’ rights, as well as the role of the police in upholding the law.
Ms White, a resident of Nelson Mandela Bay, was reportedly targeted by the SAPS and ANC representatives due to her outspoken criticism of the current ANC leadership. She has been a vocal advocate for transparency and accountability within the ruling party and has been vocal in her calls for action against corrupt officials.
The Eastern Cape MEC has condemned this incident, stating that it is a clear violation of the law and an abuse of power. She has called for a thorough investigation into the matter and for those responsible to be held accountable for their actions.
“The actions of SAPS and alleged ANC representatives are unacceptable and cannot be tolerated in a democratic society. Our Constitution clearly outlines the rights of citizens, and these rights must be protected at all times,” stated MEC Tikana-Gxothiwe.
She also emphasized the need for the police to act within the confines of the law and to respect citizens’ rights, regardless of their political affiliations or views. “The police have a duty to uphold the law and protect citizens, not to abuse their power to silence dissenting voices,” she added.
The incident has sparked outrage and concern among citizens, with many questioning the motives behind the unlawful entry into Ms White’s home. Some have even accused the ANC of using state institutions, such as the police, to intimidate and silence its critics.
The MEC has urged the SAPS to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and to take appropriate action against those responsible. She also called on the ANC to publicly address the allegations and to ensure that its members and representatives act within the law at all times.
In light of this incident, the MEC has also reminded citizens of their rights and encouraged them to report any violations to the relevant authorities. She emphasized that the government is committed to protecting the rights of all citizens and will not tolerate any actions that undermine these rights.
Ms White’s lawyer, Advocate Tembeka Ngcukaitobi, has also weighed in on the matter, stating that they will be taking legal action against those responsible for the unlawful entry into her home. He added that this incident highlights the need for the government to address the issue of police brutality and abuse of power.
As South Africans, we must stand united in our condemnation of such actions and demand accountability from those in positions of power. We must also continue to advocate for a just and fair society, where the rights of all citizens are protected and respected.
In conclusion, the Eastern Cape MEC for Community Safety has called for swift action to be taken against those who unlawfully entered Lulu White’s home. She has also urged citizens to remain vigilant and to continue to speak out against any violations of their rights. Let us all work together to build a society where the rule of law is upheld and the rights of all citizens are protected.
