The African National Congress (ANC) in Mpumalanga recently held a two-day provincial Lekgotla in Mbombela, bringing together party members and leaders from across the province. The Lekgotla, which took place on the 15th and 16th of September, was a platform for the ANC to reflect on its achievements, discuss challenges and strategize for the future.
The Lekgotla was attended by ANC members from all corners of Mpumalanga, including provincial and regional leaders, as well as representatives from various structures of the party. The event was also graced by the presence of ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) member, Comrade David Mabuza, who is also the Premier of Mpumalanga.
The two-day gathering was filled with robust discussions and debates, with a strong focus on the upcoming local government elections. The ANC in Mpumalanga is determined to retain its majority in the province and continue to deliver quality services to the people.
In his opening address, Premier Mabuza emphasized the importance of unity within the party. He urged all members to put aside their differences and work together towards a common goal of improving the lives of the people of Mpumalanga. He also reminded everyone of the ANC’s rich history and the sacrifices made by its members to bring about a democratic South Africa.
The Lekgotla also provided a platform for the ANC to reflect on its achievements in the province. Over the years, the ANC-led government in Mpumalanga has made significant strides in improving the lives of its citizens. This includes the provision of basic services such as water, electricity, and housing, as well as the creation of job opportunities through various development projects.
However, the ANC also acknowledged that there are still challenges that need to be addressed. These include high levels of unemployment, poverty, and inequality. The party committed to working tirelessly to address these issues and ensure that all citizens of Mpumalanga have access to a better life.
One of the key highlights of the Lekgotla was the adoption of the ANC’s election manifesto for the upcoming local government elections. The manifesto, which was developed through extensive consultations with communities, outlines the party’s plans to continue delivering quality services and creating job opportunities in the province.
The ANC also used the Lekgotla as an opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to the principles of the Freedom Charter, which calls for the people to share in the country’s wealth and resources. The party emphasized the need for radical economic transformation to address the inequalities that still exist in our society.
The Lekgotla also saw the election of new leadership for the ANC in Mpumalanga. Comrade Mandla Ndlovu was elected as the new Provincial Chairperson, while Comrade Speedy Mashilo was elected as the Deputy Provincial Chairperson. The newly elected leadership pledged to work tirelessly to unite the party and ensure its victory in the upcoming elections.
In his closing remarks, Premier Mabuza thanked all the delegates for their participation and commitment to the ANC. He urged them to go back to their communities and spread the message of the ANC’s vision for a better South Africa. He also called on all members to work together to ensure a resounding victory for the ANC in the upcoming local government elections.
The ANC in Mpumalanga has once again demonstrated its commitment to the people of the province through the successful hosting of the provincial Lekgotla. The party has shown that it is united and ready to face any challenges that may come its way. With the adoption of a strong election manifesto and the election of a new leadership, the ANC in Mpumalanga is well on its way to retaining its majority and continuing to bring about positive change in the lives of the people.
