‘I left London to move North and there are 7 things I don’t miss’

Ellisha Clapham had always dreamed of living in London. The bustling city with its vibrant culture, diverse population, and endless opportunities had always seemed like the perfect place for her. And so, after finishing university, she packed her bags and moved to the big city to start her new life.

For almost 10 years, Ellisha called London her home. She built a successful career, made lifelong friends, and explored every corner of the city. However, despite all the wonderful memories and experiences, she recently made the decision to pack her bags once again and move back up North to Yorkshire. And now, she’s sharing the things she doesn’t miss about her London life.

The first thing that comes to mind for Ellisha is the constant hustle and bustle of London. While it may seem exciting at first, the fast-paced lifestyle can quickly become exhausting. The never-ending traffic, crowded streets, and packed public transport can take a toll on anyone. In Yorkshire, Ellisha has found a slower pace of life that allows her to truly relax and enjoy her surroundings.

Another thing she doesn’t miss is the high cost of living in London. The city is notorious for its expensive rent, food, and entertainment. Ellisha found herself constantly budgeting and sacrificing certain things in order to afford the essentials. But now, she can enjoy a more comfortable lifestyle in Yorkshire without constantly worrying about her bank account.

One of the biggest challenges for Ellisha in London was finding a sense of community. With so many people constantly coming and going, it was hard to build meaningful connections. In Yorkshire, she has found a strong sense of community and has formed close bonds with her neighbors and fellow locals. It’s something she truly cherishes and is grateful for.

In London, it’s easy to get caught up in the rat race and lose touch with nature. But in Yorkshire, Ellisha has been able to reconnect with the great outdoors. The stunning countryside, picturesque villages, and peaceful walks have become a regular part of her routine. She’s even taken up gardening, something she never would have had the space for in London.

One thing that may come as a surprise is that Ellisha doesn’t miss the endless options for entertainment in London. While it may seem like a dream for some, the constant pressure to be doing something or going somewhere can be overwhelming. In Yorkshire, she has found a simpler way of life where she can truly appreciate the little things and find joy in the everyday.

Finally, Ellisha doesn’t miss the hectic work culture in London. The long hours, high expectations, and constant competition can take a toll on one’s mental and physical well-being. In Yorkshire, she has found a healthier work-life balance and a more supportive work environment. She’s able to pursue her passions and still have time for herself and her loved ones.

Despite all the things she doesn’t miss about her London life, Ellisha is grateful for the time she spent in the city. It shaped her in many ways and provided her with invaluable experiences. But now, she’s found a new home in Yorkshire where she can truly thrive and be her best self. And for that, she wouldn’t change a thing.
