It’s not too late to enjoy the CTA’s Holiday Train this year, but time is running out! The Holiday Train is a festive, family-friendly way to get around the city and take in the holiday spirit. The train will be running on the Pink and Blue lines this week, with a special visit from Santa Claus on Saturday on the Blue Line. Here’s what you need to know to make the most of your Holiday Train experience.
Pink Line
The Holiday Train will be running on the Pink Line on Tuesday, December 12th and Wednesday, December 13th. On Tuesday, the train will depart from 54th/Cermak at 2:43pm and arrive at the Loop at 3:10pm. It will then depart from the Loop at 4:16pm and arrive back at 54th/Cermak at 4:43pm. On Wednesday, the train will depart from 54th/Cermak at 3:06pm and arrive at the Loop at 3:33pm. It will then depart from the Loop at 4:44pm and arrive back at 54th/Cermak at 5:11pm.
Blue Line
The Holiday Train will switch over to the Blue Line for the rest of the week, with trips scheduled Thursday through Saturday. On Thursday, the train will leave O’Hare at 3:13pm and head all the way to Forest Park. The return trip will start at 4:57pm. On Friday, the train will leave O’Hare at 4:13pm and will head back from Forest Park at 6:02pm. On Saturday, riders will have the chance to take photos with Santa. The train will leave Racine at 1:50pm and depart from Forest Park at 3:53pm.
Yellow Line
Service on the Yellow Line has been suspended since an accident earlier this year, but if service resumes by the end of the month, a two-car version of the Holiday Train will run on Thursday, December 21st. Trains will depart from Howard between 3:08pm and 6:53pm, with inbound trains returning from Dempster-Skokie between 3:22pm and 7:07pm.
