Croydon mum ‘who had no one to speak to’ after losing son in crash finds new purpose

Hasina Momtaz, a Muslim entrepreneur, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Muslim Women Awards 2025. Her inspiring journey as the founder of a faith-inspired jewellery business has caught the attention of many, especially after the tragic passing of her son.

In an exclusive interview with MyLondon, Hasina shared her story and how her faith has played a significant role in her business and personal life.

Hasina’s jewellery business, named “Noor by Hasina”, was born out of her love for creating beautiful and meaningful pieces that reflected her Islamic beliefs. She started the business in 2018, after her son’s sudden death due to a heart condition. Hasina found solace in her faith and turned to creating jewellery as a way to honor her son’s memory.

“My son was my inspiration for this business. Losing him was the most difficult thing I have ever been through, but it also made me realize the importance of cherishing every moment and living a purposeful life,” Hasina shared.

Noor by Hasina offers a range of handcrafted jewellery pieces, each with a unique Islamic symbol or verse engraved on it. Hasina’s aim is to spread positivity, love, and faith through her creations. The business has gained a loyal following among the Muslim community, and Hasina’s designs have been praised for their elegance and meaningfulness.

When asked about her reaction to being shortlisted for the Entrepreneur of the Year award, Hasina expressed her gratitude and excitement. “I am truly honored to be recognized for my work. It feels like a validation of all the hard work and dedication I have put into this business. I am grateful for the support and love I have received from the community,” she said.

Hasina’s faith has been a driving force behind her business, and she believes that her success is a result of her strong connection with Allah. “My faith has taught me to be patient, resilient, and to always trust in Allah’s plan. It has given me the strength to overcome challenges and keep moving forward,” she shared.

Being a Muslim woman in the business world has its own set of challenges, but Hasina believes that her faith has helped her overcome any obstacles. “As a Muslim woman, I have faced my fair share of stereotypes and discrimination. But I have never let that stop me from pursuing my dreams. My faith has taught me to be confident in my abilities and to always stay true to my values,” she said.

Hasina’s inspiring story has touched the hearts of many, and she hopes to inspire other Muslim women to follow their dreams and make a positive impact in the world. “I want to show that as Muslim women, we can achieve anything we set our minds to. Our faith is our biggest strength, and it can guide us to success in all aspects of life,” she said.

The Muslim Women Awards, founded in 2010, aims to recognize and celebrate the achievements of Muslim women in various fields. The Entrepreneur of the Year award recognizes women who have made a significant impact in the business world and have inspired others with their entrepreneurial spirit.

Hasina Momtaz’s journey is a testament to the power of faith and determination.
