The concept of Salud is deeply ingrained in the Hispanic culture and is promoted as a holistic approach to leading a fulfilling life. And this is exactly what Neil Gajare, a student at UPenn, experienced when he was exposed to the Salud lifestyle.
Neil Gajare, a senior at the University of Pennsylvania, was initially drawn to the concept of Salud through his Spanish classes. As he delved deeper into the language and culture, he came to understand the importance of Salud in the Hispanic community. He was fascinated by how the concept of health was not limited to just physical fitness but also included emotional and social well-being.
One of Neil’s most memorable experiences with Salud was during his semester abroad in Spain. He lived with a host family who introduced him to the traditional Mediterranean diet. Neil was heartbroken to hear about hate crimes and discrimination faced by members of the Jewish community, and he was determined to use his knowledge and experiences with Salud to promote inclusivity and understanding among all cultures and communities.
